Windows 2000

Configuring RCD-1000/5020/5040 Drives as CD-ROM Drives under Windows 2000

Win 2000 will not automatically detect your WORM drive as a CD Rom drive, it will detect it as a UNKNOWN Device and place it in the category. You will have to manually update the driver for that UNKNOWN Device yourself before you will be able to use your WORM drive as a CD Rom drive. To accomplish this follow the steps below.

  1. Right click on MY COMPUTER
  2. Select Properties from the pop up menu
  3. Select the Hardware Tab
  4. Click on the DEVICE MANAGER button
  5. Go to Other Devices and double click on the Worm Drive
  6. Click on the Driver Tab
  7. Click on the Update Driver button
  8. Click on Next
  9. Select Display a list of Known drivers
  10. Click on Next
  11. Select Other Devices
  12. Click on Next
  13. Select Standard CD Rom Drive
  14. Click on Next
  15. In the Update driver Warning window click on Yes
  16. Click on Next
  17. Click Finish

You should now see your drive listed under DVD/CD Rom Drives in the Device Manager and also see it in MY COMPUTER and Windows Explorer as a CD Rom drive.
